About this reference material
Oxytocin is a cyclic nonapeptide with a disulfide bridge between residues one and six. It is one of the most extensively characterized peptide hormones in the literature and is used routinely as a reference standard in receptor binding, smooth muscle and neuroendocrine assays.
This compound is the active ingredient of a product approved for human use in the United States. Chemology supplies the material here strictly as a laboratory reference standard. It is not supplied for, and must not be used for, any human application.
Handling and storage
Supplied as a lyophilized powder in a sealed vial. Store sealed vials at -20°C, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Reconstituted material should be held refrigerated, protected from light, and handled under the receiving laboratory’s own protocols.
Documentation
Each production lot is analyzed by an independent third-party laboratory before release. The purity and identity result for the lot you receive is stated on its certificate of analysis, which is published against the lot number printed on the vial label.
